I have never made my own jump rings! When I got my samples of all the new aluminum wire in the Dazzle-It collection it did occur to me that I might need to buy jump rings in many different colours in order to create finished pieces.
Then Lilla from John Bead handed me one of the new jump ring tools. (I know there are other companies in the John Bead catalog with similar tools.) I have never used a jump ring maker so getting to experiment with one was a a great experience.
Here is the tool set I received. It makes jump rings in sizes 4, 6, 7, 8 ml. There is a second set that makes 10, 12, 14, 16ml jump rings too!
Here are my first samples. My aluminum wire (18ga) wrapped quickly and tightly around the cylinder. Then all I had to do was cut through the coil on a straight angle to create my jump rings. Tada! Jump rings in my colours and in my prefered sizing!
