Braiding is a simple, yet so effective, way to revamp or recreate an old piece.

John Bead has so many cords in stock and I am attracted to the leathers, suedes and other thicker stringing materials.

Recently I pulled out some suede cord in order to see whether or not I could make the edges of this old chain look more interesting.

I had to call in my friend Nancy, the expert braider.  You can see her non-technical tools; bobby pins which helped to create a braid on the edge of the chain.

I think that looks wonderful.  The added bonus is the softness you feel from the suede.

Curious about the idea…we used some Dazzle-It rattail too.  Love this.
I am gong to continue experimenting with different cords this month!
