Instant Statement Necklace

1

Instant Statement Necklace by Carmi Cimicata for John Bead.  This necklace is easy to create if you enjoy simple twisting techniques and hand stitching.

Polyester Pipe was one of the newest stringing materials to be introduced by John Bead as part of their Tropical Punch collection.  There are many color options to choose from.  For this project I used Aqua/Royal Blue and Navy/Burgundy.

The fabulous crystal filled bezels you see featured are created with Instant Glam components.  The Blue Crystal Rock applique paired beautifully with the blues in the polyester Pipe.

In order to get my necklace shaped, I used masking tape to help me keep both polyester pipe strands side by side.

5

Strategic hand stitching on the back side of my piece ensured that the curves would stay in place.

6

I even added a tiny bit of glue to my thread knot for extra security.

7

The Instant Glam bezels already have three soldered links on the back.  I used a needle and thread to join the bezels components to the polyester pipe using those links.

8

I was almost done.  I could not decide if a third bezel was needed.

9

After showing my work in progress to our Creative Director; Fernando Dasilva it was pointed out that perhaps another loop was needed.  So I added these three loops by simply gluing end caps to some of my leftover polyester pipe pieces and attached them with a jumpring.

I think the bezels are now balanced and the asymmetrical look I was envisioning has been achieved.

When A Designer Uses Metal Complex Bezels

Today I am sharing with you a special necklace designed by Fernando DaSilva.  It beautifully features one of our Metal Complex Bezels.

The square lipped hand made Metal Complex bezels are available in brass, silver plated, copper and antique copper.

Fernando filled the bezel with clay and then embedded crystals and other jewelry components to create this amazing pendant.

The bronze Apoxie Sculpt looks great as his background.

His necklace is so unique.  His components all work beautifully together.

Green is the Colour For 2013

It is always so delightful to see what Fernando DaSilva designs.

I have been focused on these handcrafted lipped bezels because they are so unique.  They are ideal for special projects and pendants that are going to be made into high end necklaces.

Fernando embedded his crystals and embellishments into green Apoxie Sculpt.  Green really is a lucky colour and happily the colour for 2013.

His finished pendant is beautifully showcased with Dazzle-it Checker Beads.

Bezel Beauty!

The hand crafted Metal Complex Bezels are perhaps my favorite items to work with.  Since I really love working with Jewelry Resin, having having beautiful bezels is a must!  The “Lipped Bezels” always look expensive and well made.  You also have the option to decorate the edge with additional beading or wire wrapping techniques.

I made a unique and asymmetrical necklace to showcase this bezel.  I used:

Bronze Leaf Toggle

Swarovski Bicones

Swarovski Briolettes and

Aqua Black Dazzle-it Checker Beads

The Beauty of Resin and Metal

I am quite certain that this pendant would stop anyone in their tracks.  It is truly beautiful and hand crafted by Nancy Donaldson.

Nancy was kind enough to show us what she used to make her pendants:  Jewelry Resin, Metal Complex Bezels and Dazzle-It Aluminum Wire.  Her own photography makes each pendant a work of art.

Thank you for sharing these images Nancy!

Fire Polished Beads and Metal Complex Bezel

This necklace reflects light and changes colour as it moves.

I received this “grab bag” of Fire Polished Glass Beads from John Bead a few weeks ago and was looking for a good opportunity to show them off.

There are so many unique shapes in the bag.

I filled a Metal Complex Bezel  with some tiles, rhinestones and a brass charm.  I then encased it all in Jewelry Resin to create this beautiful glass-like component.  The bezels in this collection which feature a lip look especially beautiful.

I hope you like this finished necklace as much as I do!

John Bead has Jewelry Resin in stock!
