The Crystal Scarabaeus Green effect and Crystal Scarabaeus Green Pearl have also been designed by Jean Paul Gaultier for Swarovski to complement the Kaputt Collection. Inspired by the verdigris roof of the Paris Opera House, and by the scintillating metallic green-blue-purple luster of the scarab beetle once worshipped by the ancient Egyptians, the Scarabeaus innovations evoke an otherworldly, future-tech look.
HIGHLIGHTS of the 2016/17 LAUNCH
KAPUTT DESIGNED BY JEAN PSUL GAULTIER
While the whole world strives for perfection, Swarovski discovers the beauty of imperfection, guided and inspired by none other than design legend Jean Paul Gaultier. Together with Swarovski’s own Design Center HQ and Product Management experts, Gaultier developed the spectacular Kaputt Collection exclusively for Swarovski. Cut, color, facets, and even small details were defined, shaped, and approved by Jean Paul Gaultier himself. Like its name, the German word for “broken,” suggests, the collection presents a technological innovation that deliberately breaks with convention. It celebrates the appeal of being different and unpredictable, which, according to the designer, is much more exciting than the precise and perfect.
NEW EFFECT CRYSTAL SCARABAEUS GREEN DESIGNED BY JEAN PAUL GAULTIER
Expressing his desire for an exclusive effect that would match his Kaputt Collection, haute couture icon Jean Paul Gaultier developed Crystal Scarabaeus Green together with a team of experts from Swarovski. The story goes that as a young man, he would frequently pass the Paris opera house and was fascinated by the green coloring of the tarnished copper roof. For his effect, he wanted this precise scintillating shade of green, combined with the mythological shimmer of the Egyptian scarab.
Aptly named, Crystal Scarabaeus Green evokes the magic glow of the scarab, shimmering in green, blue, and purple with a metallic luster that combines bright and shadowy facets to create a stunningly graphic surface.
NEW EFFECT CRYSTAL LIGHT CHROME
This cool and modern metallic effect caters to the growing importance of non-gender specific products. A modern mind-set, particularly with millennials, has led to design elements and colors that cross boundaries and genders. The cold silver of Crystal Light Chrome is perfectly placed to appeal to both men and women alike.

Nostalgic Grandeur echoes the beauty of the past in the subdued hues of the Crystal Patina effect. In contrast, Poetic Punk Rock signals a futuristic edginess encapsulated in the Crystal Spikes and Studs collection in co-operation with Jean Paul Gaultier.
New Effect: Crystal Patina Inspired by Venice’s beauty, rich history and masquerade balls, “Nostalgic Grandeur” recalls baroque ballrooms and opulent mirrors. This theme is reflected in the new Crystal Patina effect: entirely unprecedented in the industry, its vintage look conveys a sense of timelessness.
Poetic Punk Rock – Crystal Spikes and Studs Collection. The re-emergence of high-glam, punk rock inspired fashion coincides with a rising sense of “austerity fatigue,” prompting the return of opulence to our lives. With his extraordinary ability to interpret and redefine fashion, Jean Paul Gaultier has co-operated with Swarovski to take the theme to a new level in an avant-garde assortment of breathtaking couture pieces with a cool, contemporary edge: Crystal Spikes and Studs.
